Operation Gamer Girl: October Goals

With September out of the way, I’m feeling pretty good about Operation Gamer Girl. I wanted to prove to myself that I was committed to this, and accomplishing all four of my September goals has really motivated me.

I feel a little bad about this post, though, because I can’t come up with a good new concrete goal for October. I’ve got a lot of continuing things — save money, lose weight, get laser hair removal — but I just can’t think of anything to do for the first time, or a significant change that I can undertake. Do I challenge myself to come out to someone I haven’t yet? Do something as Ali that I have been afraid to before? I just can’t seem to hit on anything to commit to.

If anyone out there in readerville has a suggestion they could make for me in the next few days, I would greatly appreciate it. Just leave it in the comments.

In the meantime, here are my continuing Gamer Girl goals for October:

Lose 5 lbs. One thing I know about weight loss from both experience and research is that, after an initial burst of rapid weight loss, the human body tends to operate best shedding about 1 – 2 lbs. per week. My September efforts got me under 290 lbs for the first time in two years. While I would love to go for broke and try and dip below 280 this month — somewhere I haven’t been since my appendix burst in 2010 — I am going to be a little more modest in my goals this month. Especially since Halloween is near! Mmm, chocolate …

Save $75. It worked last month; barring unforeseen expenses, I should be able to pull it off again.

Attend my second laser treatment. This one’s a gimme. Still, it’s part of my goal list. I have the appointment scheduled and the day off; only illness or emergency will keep me away from this one.
